Here we go — stepping out of my comfort zone by sharing my thoughts, opinions, and knowledge to who knows how many people.
Why am I blogging?
To Grow
Primarily, I started this to grow — to get better at writing and find my voice. Pushing myself like this, outside of my comfort zone, is the best way I know to keep improving.
Share the Wealth
I also realize I have a lot to share. Each day I’m learning something new — why keep it all to myself? You may find the lessons I’ve learned helpful in your journey. If I can help someone avoid learning something the hard way, that’s a win in my book!
Be a New Voice
Being in a field predominantly run by white, cisgender men — being a queer, female voice is another strong motivator.
I’ve always hesitated to share my opinions. Not sure if I have that hesitation because of society’s expectations of me as a woman or because I’m introverted — but either way, I need some practice letting my voice be heard.
What’s coming.
For starters, you can expect a blog every week.
Posts will consist of lessons I’ve learned, insights, process breakdowns, tutorials, reviews, and whatever else interests me in the motion design space.
This is an exciting new challenge for me. A big shoutout to Austin Saylor and everyone in his Full Harbor Membership for giving advice and much-needed encouragement! And, of course, a huge thank you goes to my wife, Hillary — who’s always there to read my half baked ideas and doesn’t sugarcoat what I need to hear.
I wouldn’t have stuck with this blogging idea without all of this support — I’m eager to see where it goes!
